Hemp for anxiety is making a “come back” in today’s world. Hemp, a weed, was the most common crop in the United States until the 1930s when it was banned by the United States government under the Marijuana Tax Act. Hemp is similar to the way that CBD is handled in this situation. Hemp is used to create CBD, which is what we are going to talk about today.

Hemp for anxiety, as you probably already know, is created from the stalks, leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. Hemp is definitely more effective than CBD derived from cannabis. So why should people consider hemp for anxiety? It’s really quite simple: Hemp is naturally more safe than cannabis. While there is still some controversy surrounding the safety of CBD, there is no evidence of adverse mental health reactions to consuming CBD (which is derived from the leaves and stems of the cannabis plant).

So what is CBD exactly? It is short for cannabidiol, which are a very potent little molecule that is produced by the cannabis plant, as well as other species of cannabis plants. It is thought that it is a cousin of the substance found within the central nervous system of humans, called serotonin. It is believed that CBD helps to reduce symptoms in people who suffer from depression, schizophrenia, epilepsy, and other disorders related to mood and brain function.

What is CBD based on? There are many sources, but two of the more common ways to get CBD are hemp oil and CBD capsules. Hemp oil comes from cannabis sativa plants, which are much like marijuana. It is typically refined and made available in the form of a dietary supplement. It is also possible to get pure CBD directly from the cannabis sativa plant, although this may be quite rare.

CBD capsules are popular for treating depression and anxiety. Some experts believe that they work by reducing the level of the neurotransmitter GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid), which is primarily responsible for regulating mood. But GABA is one of many compounds that affect serotonin, the chemical in the brain that helps regulate emotion and anxiety levels. So hemp seeds and hemp oil seem to act in much the same way as antidepressants do, without all of the nasty side effects that come with them.

Can CBD be used in place of other pharmaceuticals? Well, while CBD has shown promise when it comes to reducing anxiety, researchers are not quite ready to completely replace other pharmaceuticals with CBD products. Many of these pharmaceuticals have lots of harmful side effects to deal with. Hemp products are completely natural, but the research on CBD is still very preliminary. So for the time being, it may be best to stick with CBD treatments that are derived from CBD extracts rather than CBD oils or capsules.

Why does the cannabis plant contain CBD? The only medical purpose for CBD is to treat nausea associated with chemotherapy patients. No scientific study has determined CBD’s efficacy when treating anything beyond the nausea connection. It is believed, however, that CBD has an anti-anxiety effect on patients, at least when compared to the relatively paltry 0.3 percent concentration found in the popular Marihuana cannabis plant.

If you have chronic pain, you might want to give CBD a try. There’s no medical study that proves CBD works, but CBD has a reputation as a powerful anti-anxiety and anti-psychotic agent. At present, there’s no scientific evidence that CBD is effective in the treatment of any real medical condition. But for the many people who suffer from anxiety, insomnia, depression, chronic pain, or other ailments, CBD is an interesting alternative to prescription drugs and herbal remedies. For some, it could be the answer to their problems.
